The stunning black and white colors of the orca make it one of the world’s most recognizable animals. As the ocean’s top predator, they play a significant role in balancing the global marine ecosystem. There are approximately 50,000 orcas left on the planet, with some subpopulations facing many threats including food limitations, chemical contaminants, and disturbances from vessel traffic and sound.

Advocate Apparel Inspired by the orca (Orcinus orca)

Orcas are the largest species in the dolphin family and can grow to be 32 feet in length and weigh in at a whopping 11 tons. They can be found worldwide and have the largest range of all cetacean (dolphin, whale, and porpoise) species. This large range has created subspecies around the world that slightly vary from one another. Orcas can be found in both open ocean and near-shore environments. These dolphins have the most varied diet of all cetaceans but vary regionally. For example, the resident orcas (those that live specifically in one geographic area) of the pacific northwest exclusively eat fish (mainly salmon) while the transient orcas (those that are just passing through a geographic area) in the same region eat marine mammals and squid.

One reason orca populations need strong conservation efforts is because of their reproductive characteristics that limit them to producing few young over a long period of time. Female orcas do not reach sexual maturity until 10-13 years of age. Once sexually active, females can only birth a single calf with each pregnancy. The gestational period lasts for 15-18 months and each calf must nurse from its mother for a year and then will remain with its mother until approximately 2 years of age. Because of this, one female orca can only produce one calf every 3.5-4 years.

All in all, the birth rate in orcas is not well understood, but these low levels of reproduction inhibit many orca populations' ability to quickly recover from environmental disturbances.

Love Love Love these leggings!

I only wish you had more - expanded this line to full bodysuits or sunshirts. These are actually long enough for this 5'10" woman - yay! And my new saying is "Feeling cute today - think I'll sink some yachts" - brilliant!

Beautifully Made

These are beautifully made. The material is substantial, but I didn’t feel hot while snorkeling in The Cook Islands. I will also use them for yoga workouts. I believe these leggings will last a long time and I look forward to purchasing more from Waterlust. The customer service is fantastic. Camilla helped me get my leggings in time for my trip.

My Wife Loves Them!!!

1. They are thicker than regular ol yoga pants.
2. Pockets on either side.
3. They look like an Orca!
4. My wife is 5 ft. tall and she noticed there are preferated lines she can cut to make them fit perfectly!
5. A portion of proceeds go to conservation.

Best workout leggings ever

I was skeptical before trying them on because of how long the legs were. But, once I got them on and pulled the extra length down and around my heel, I found that this was very comfortable and prevented them from riding up. I’m 5’4” and 130 lbs. The Medium fit is pretty snug, but that’s what I want for the gym because they prevent things from jiggling.

I haven’t tried them in the water, but they feel like they’d be nice under a wetsuit. My only concern is that the bright white might hold stains, but that’s just speculation.

They’re a little pricey, but worth it. The fabric feels durable and the stitching is high quality. I wore them to the gym the day after I received them and got many compliments. One person looked me up and down and asked “Penguin?” and I had to admit she wasn’t entirely wrong. LOL.

Thanks for taking the time to leaving this review! Our prints and fabrics are all bleach safe so you can get pretty agressive with stain removal if you get something on the white fabric. I hope this helps :)

Enjoy your new leggings, and thank you for supporting Waterlust!

Love these leggings

This is my second pair of waterlust leggings, love them. A friend that is a dive master at a resort wears these and says they are very durable! I have to admit they got me with the logo - feeling cute, might sink a yacht later. I'm 5' 9" weigh about 210# - got a 2XL. What I really love is the legs are plenty LONG! I have a 34" inseam and they fit great. They can be shortened as needed.

Orca leggings? Yes, please!

I have a few Waterlust leggings, so I'm obviously a fan. But these Orca leggings are my new favorites! They are super cute and very flattering!
