Advocate Apparel Inspired by the spotted parrotfish (cetoscarus ocellatus)

While parrotfish come in many amazing colors and patterns, this print is inspired by a male, terminal phase spotted parrotfish, native to the Indo-Pacific. Considered the most effective reef grazer, parrotfish serve an important function in maintaining the health of coral reefs. In fact, a 2014 IUCN report surveyed the health of Caribbean coral reefs from 1970-2012 and found that one of the most impactful actions we can take to restore the health of coral reef habitat is to protect parrotfish!

If that isn’t reason enough to love these bright and beautiful fish, an individual poops up to 200 lbs of sand a year, a critical source of sediment for beaches! For example, in Vakkaru Island in the Maldives, a 2015 study found that over 85% of their beach sand had been produced by parrotfish!

Beautiful print and fabulous quality

The parrot fish is one of my favourite marine creatures. Who couldn't love those amazing colours? 5/5 for the quality and print.
I'll be wearing it a lot even though the style isn't great for my body type. I would have liked it more if the front was not so low cut and the back not so high, but that won't stop me from wearing it often.

The fabric design was lovely, and the material was comfortable. I'm unaccustomed to high cut legs and low cut scoop top but I'll make it work. I probably will use some sort of tie across the back to keep the shoulder straps on but I've had to do this before.

I wanted to love this

I wanted to love this suit. I first got the size M (I’m 5’5”, 130lbs). It gapped bizarrely under my arms. I then sized down as suggested and the straps fell off my shoulders. Hopefully they will make a design in the future with a better fit.

Almost there

I like the thick material and design, but the proportions were all off in the armpit area. I am 5’6” and 147lbs and the medium was right on the bottom but even though I have broad shoulders there was a big gap at the pit and the straps wouldn’t stay up

Parrotfish One Piece

I love the parrotfish pattern; it is stunning. One of the reasons I keep coming back to Waterlust is for the quality of material. It is durable and has structure. I feel secure in my one piece; you can feel that it is quality material. The reason I rated it a four is because the straps do fall down my shoulders. I ordered a small and am 5'6, 135 lbs, and wear a size 34 DDD so this could be the reason I am having the arm straps fall down. Other than that, I love the scoop neck cut and the low back cut!

Lovely Suit, Outstanding Customer Service!

I must begin the review with a 10/10-Star accolade for Camilla, and Waterlust Customer Service. Kind, professional, accommodating, responsive, I don’t know that I’ve ever been treated better as a customer.

As to the lovely suit, I’m a tall - 6’3” - broad shouldered, large busted - 48-35-45 - girl, so clearly not your average bear, and while the Extra Legendary suit is absolutely perfect in every other regard, I simply cannot keep the straps on my shoulders. Hence, sadly, the 4/5 Stars for the suit. (If possible it would be 4.75/5, the suit is really that nice!)

Overall I love the fit, the finish, the fabric, the design, the coverage, absolutely everything else about the suit is perfect. And I have to emphasize, I have crazy broad shoulders - think Amazon, think rower, think Soviet-era Olympic swimmer, think a taller, bustier Ilona Maher - and nothing I do will keep the straps up.

I would recommend this suit without question were it not for the strap issue, which may not be an issue with the suit, but with how I’m built. I have previously loved all Waterlust products, and, in fact, have a bikini in the same Parrotfish print which fits beautifully, which I adore. If you get this suit - and I hope you do - wiggle, twist, swing, and shimmy, do anything you can to test the straps. I hope they work for you.

Camilla so wanted to make this right that she sent me the suit in the next size down - Legendary - and the straps would’ve likely been perfect, (and it made my bum look far better than it is!), but my torso length and my boobs were just too much for it.

Waterlust, with employees like Camilla, gorgeous seaworthy suits like these, and a commitment to our oceans is a company whose garments I’ll happily continue to enjoy for years to come.
