Fits beautifully

I am 5'9" (176cm) and 145lb (67kg) and this suit is long enough in the body and arms. The fit is great, and the coverage over the back is adequate. The print is fantastic!! love it!

Sunsuit

The size medium sunsuit fits my 5’9” 135 lb body very well. I appreciate the longer sleeves. I’m impressed with the quality of the material and the construction. This is a high quality suit. I’m fair skinned with a history of skin cancer, so my preference is to cover my skin with UV blocking fabric rather than using potentially polluting sun-block lotion. It’s a pleasure to support a company that is taking positive action to protect the planet while providing consumers with a beautiful product.

Love it

Fits is just as well as my previous whale shark one. The colour is more towards orange tone then pink tone (as depicted on website) which suits me better.

So comfortable for diving

I love this suit for doing free dives, it’s comfortable and just keeps “top malfunctions” from happening when you’re being active. It’s great material, love the thumb holes. Back zipper has string like a wetsuit for easy on/off solo. The size chart did me well, I am 5’1 and 155 pounds and did the L but maybe could have snuck M. It def is comfy and no too loose though. A little cheeky but not bad. I will probably get more of these!

10% of profits donated to REEF

Known for their show stopping appearance, venomous spines, and voracious appetites, invasive Indo-Pacific lionfish (Pterois volitans & Pterois miles) are the first non-native marine fish to become established in the Atlantic. Lionfish pose a significant threat to local marine ecosystems due to widespread predation of native species, prolific reproduction, and lack of controlling predators.

    2. Fibers mechanically engineered for quick-dry, moisture-wicking and breathability
    3. Resilient 4-way stretch and recovery for shape retention in and out of the water
    4. 100% chlorine, sun, salt water, and sunscreen resistant
    5. High neck collar, thumbholes at wrists, and medium back booty coverage
    6. Back zipper for easy entry, with a long paracord pull for easy zip up

ADVOCATE APPAREL INSPIRED BY the invasive lionfish (Pterois volitans & Pterois miles)

The issue

Lionfish in their native range, from the South Pacific to the Red Sea, are an important part of the coral reef ecosystem and population numbers are kept in check through natural processes.

However, they are non-native to the Atlantic ocean and have become established as a harmful invasive species in this region, posing a significant threat to local marine ecosystems due to widespread predation on native species, prolific reproduction, and lack of controlling predators. Humans must intervene to reduce their impact in the invaded waters, and our Invasive Lionfish collection exists to promote action and awareness on this issue.

Reported Lionfish Sightings 1985 - January 8, 2020

Beginning in the 1980's, two visually identical species of lionfish (Pterois miles and Pterois volitans) were introduced into the Atlantic via the US aquarium trade and have become the first non-native marine fish to become established in the Atlantic. Over the past decade, invasive lionfish densities in these non-native areas have exploded, as they have been documented along the entire US East Coast from Florida through Massachusetts, east to Bermuda and south throughout the Caribbean. The expansion has been extremely rapid and exponential in scope.

Reef Environmental Education Foundation REEF Logo

Reef Environmental Education Foundation (REEF)’s Invasive Species Program has been at the forefront of the lionfish invasion since the arrival of the species in Florida in 2006, and 10% of profits from your purchase goes to this program. REEF’s efforts have included laying the groundwork for developing early detection and rapid response plans to mitigate the impacts, training resource managers and dive operators in effective collecting techniques, and conducting innovative research to better understand what has made Indo-Pacific lionfish the perfect invader.

REEF was founded in 1990 out of growing concern about the health of the marine environment, and the desire to provide the public ways to contribute to the understanding and protection of marine populations. Visit www.REEF.org to learn more.
