The coral reef ecosystems that cover our globe provide essential food and habitat to over 25% of all marine life. The parrotfish is a common animal found among these ecosystems and are a crucial keystone species who are responsible for cleaning the corals from harmful algae. The abundance of parrotfish can be related directly to the health of our coral reef ecosystems.

While parrotfish come in many amazing colors and patterns, this print is inspired by a male, terminal phase spotted parrotfish, native to the Indo-Pacific. Considered the most effective reef grazer, parrotfish serve an important function in maintaining the health of coral reefs. In fact, a 2014 IUCN report surveyed the health of Caribbean coral reefs from 1970-2012 and found that one of the most impactful actions we can take to restore the health of coral reef habitat is to protect parrotfish!

If that isn’t reason enough to love these bright and beautiful fish, an individual poops up to 200 lbs of sand a year, a critical source of sediment for beaches! For example, in Vakkaru Island in the Maldives, a 2015 study found that over 85% of their beach sand had been produced by parrotfish!
Your support helps Reef Relief improve and protect our coral reef ecosystem through education, advocacy, and grassroots community efforts. They have a wide variety of programs educating the public about coral reefs and encouraging community action, including school programs, their Coral Camp for kids, organized clean-ups, stenciling storm drains to discourage dumping, as well as policy work with their straw and sunscreen campaigns.
"Reef Relief is so grateful to expand our message of coral reef conservation through our partnership with Waterlust. They are an incredible company whose goals align with Reef Relief's to protect living coral. Fun and colorful print! I’ve had these leggings and the matching reversible top for several years now and can vouch Waterlust items really hold up to wearing and washing. Mine are cat-approved (fur can just be quickly brushed off…doesn’t cling to the fabric. Love the pockets and customizable lengths, and the little phrase on the inside of the waistband. I also like that there is no seam on the top edge of the waistband - it’s comfortable for all day wear but I never have any issues with my Waterlust leggings sliding down.
Size ref: I’m 5’6” and 125-130 lbs and wear the size Small/Strong.
I love these leggings.
I'm 6'1 with a 37 inch inseam. The stretchy fabric easily reaches my ankles.
My wetsuit slips on like butter. In tropical waters I dive with just the leggings and sun suit. I'm looking forward to the day that the parrot fish finally accept me into their school! 😂
I’ve now been the proud owner of these beautiful parrotfish leggings for over 2years. In that time they’ve joined me on adventures in the Great Barrier Reef Australia (home), visited many Nemo families in PNG, dived WWII wrecks in the Solomons and more recently the stunning cenotes and adrenalin pumping action of the Sardine Run in Mexico! I absolutely love them, they protect me from sun and stings, have been the initiator of conversation that’s led to new friends and are just as shapely as they were new despite countless hours in the water. If you are looking for comfortable leggings which flatter while also make you feel free as the fishes (and look beautiful) you really can’t go wrong with these.
My only wish is they had a full length rash shirt (not cropped) to cover my top half too, and then I’d be a full Parrotfish!
Well done waterlust on a beautiful, functional and robust piece of underwater fashion.
My most recent purchase, I got the leggings to add to my parrotfish collection. Now I can mix and match between the shorts and leggings and my cropped rash guard. The quality is amazing- I’ve worn my items for 2 years now. I love them all so much and plan to get more!
Great quality
These fit very true to the sizing chart and are actually long enough for my very long legs! Hard to find something that will fit like these two. Very impressed.
