The coral reef ecosystems that cover our globe provide essential food and habitat to over 25% of all marine life. The parrotfish is a common animal found among these ecosystems and are a crucial keystone species who are responsible for cleaning the corals from harmful algae. The abundance of parrotfish can be related directly to the health of our coral reef ecosystems.

Advocate Apparel Inspired by the spotted parrotfish (cetoscarus ocellatus)

While parrotfish come in many amazing colors and patterns, this print is inspired by a male, terminal phase spotted parrotfish, native to the Indo-Pacific. Considered the most effective reef grazer, parrotfish serve an important function in maintaining the health of coral reefs. In fact, a 2014 IUCN report surveyed the health of Caribbean coral reefs from 1970-2012 and found that one of the most impactful actions we can take to restore the health of coral reef habitat is to protect parrotfish!

If that isn’t reason enough to love these bright and beautiful fish, an individual poops up to 200 lbs of sand a year, a critical source of sediment for beaches! For example, in Vakkaru Island in the Maldives, a 2015 study found that over 85% of their beach sand had been produced by parrotfish!

Love these products!

This is the second pair of these leggings I have bought, and I love them so much! They are comfortable, and look good, and I love that I am helping conservation efforts at the same time. I get compliments on them every time I wear them. (my other pair are the sea turtle ones)
I also love that they are nice and long... I have long legs, and generally find that anything that is my size is too short - I am 5'7", 122 lbs, and the small fits perfectly, with plenty of material to cover my ankles.
oh - and pockets!!!

Will they love me as much as I love them?

Parrotfish are one of the most colorful fish I see in the ocean. I hope they invite me in to visit as one of the family when I wear these.

Gorgeous, comfortable and durable

The print parrotfish print is stunning, and the leggings hold up great in intensive work underwater.

Parrotfish leggings

I love the colors, the fit and the feel of these leggings. I will wear it with the sun suit as the weather gets colder, to add an additional layer in the pool. As always, I was pleased with this purchase.

Fabulous fish pants

Love the vibrant color. Sustainable package and product. Came with some nice educational material. Parrotfish pattern is a great conversation starter. Very light and breathable fabric. Passes squat test for me (5'5" 220lb - size 20) the pattern does "lighten" as it stretches across the tightest areas of my legs however I don't feel it is noticeable. There is occasional roll down from the top waist when moving vigorously, however it is firm and comfortable high waist. Long leg length is easy to adjust by cuffing the ankles - very little bulk. I look forward to ordering again.
