Stony corals are essential reef-builders that form the foundation and framework for coral reef ecosystems. They do this by using calcium and carbonate ions in seawater to create limestone skeletons like the one this print is inspired by. These structures are home to some of the most biologically diverse habitats on Earth and help protect coastal communities from storms and hurricanes.

Coral reefs are critical underwater ecosystems that host and support a dazzling array of marine life and play a vital role in protecting coastlines from erosion, supporting fisheries, and driving tourism. These vibrant and biodiverse habitats are essential for maintaining the health of our oceans and sustaining both marine and human communities. Protecting coral reefs is key to safeguarding the balance of life in our oceans and ensuring a sustainable future.
The most significant problem facing coral reefs is black and white: climate change.
Climate change is exerting devastating impacts on coral reefs, primarily through rising sea temperatures and ocean acidification. Elevated sea temperatures lead to coral bleaching, where corals expel their symbiotic algae, causing them to lose their vibrant colors and leaving the corals weak and susceptible to diseases. Additionally, increased atmospheric carbon dioxide levels are driving ocean acidification, which hinders the ability of corals to build their calcium carbonate skeletons. These combined stressors make corals more susceptible to diseases and hinder their ability to recover from physical damage, posing a significant threat to these vital marine ecosystems and the rich biodiversity they support.
Rescue a Reef was developed in 2015 to raise public awareness and action on coral conservation through educational and experiential activities. This includes hosting citizen science field expeditions led by UM coral researchers that provide a unique, hands-on opportunity for recreational SCUBA divers and snorkelers to participate directly!
Through these citizen science expeditions, participants learn about the critical role coral reefs play in our environment and economy, threats they face, and tools available for their conservation and recovery; all the while conducting real-world coral research.
Our Rescue a Reef team is incredibly grateful for all the awareness and support Waterlust raises through the Coral Conservation print products! Corals are critical reef-builders and the bedrock of healthy oceans so we are thrilled this print embodies that. With your help, we can conserve and restore their future!

I just finished my staff instructor training in these over in Florida. It always led to coral conservation with other divers and students, so I actually think it's a great way to raise awareness. I travel in them, too, white sneakers and black top and jean jacket... just wrapping up a month in Fiji wearing these diving. I've probably put 100 dives on them, they're more stretchy than the others I've bought in the past. Which is fine, but you can see the pattern stretch out a little in my curvy areas.
Very well made, good quality. I thought that the interior color of the top would be a light pink but it is more peach color. Anyway it fits very well and I love it! Even after washing them a lot ,mit keeps its shape.
I absolutely LOVE these leggings! I use them for work when we perform seagrass surveys and under my wetsuit when we dive for our oyster project. They are so comfy and they fit so so well.
I use the leggings for outdoor swimming (sun in Australia is super harsh) and they feel so comfortable. The material is soft, thick and stretchy but it doesn't feel heavy i.e. you can forget you have leggings in the water, unlike other swim leggings I tried. I can't comment on longevity as I only had them for a little while, but they look very well made. Will be back for more (p.s.I would love it if you had long sleeve tops with a front zip too)
Love these for wearing under a shorty wetsuit or on their own, got them in two colors. Size medium is great for my US size 6 hips.
I bought the Coral top and leggins. They are both so soft and fit perfectly. I want to wear them all day long!
