Advocate Apparel Inspired by tiger sharks (Galeocerdo cuvier)

Tiger sharks are classified by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) as “Near Threatened”, and thus, research, education and outreach is essential to ensuring healthy populations. As one of the ocean’s largest predators, these critical species sit at the top of the food chain, helping to regulate the delicate balance of populations of those beneath in the ecosystem. Decreased populations can result in trophic cascades, impacting the abundance and behavior of other species lower on the food chain.

Multiple research methods have shown that some species of sharks have declined in population by 90% or more during the last several decades in areas where they were formerly abundant. These declines are due to direct targeting in commercial fisheries, mostly for their fins and sometimes meat. Additionally, sharks are often caught unintentionally as bycatch in many other fisheries, caught and killed in some recreational fisheries (unlike catch and release), and may also be impacted by humans more indirectly through threats like habitat loss, pollution, and human-driven declines in the fish species sharks rely on for food.

"We are so proud of our collaboration with Waterlust. Not only does their support help enable our shark conservation research, but the apparel itself is a walking billboard for marine conservation. I love it when people on the street stop to ask me about my tiger shark board shorts. It's an opportunity to start a conversation about the wonders and perils faced by sharks and how the average person can help make a difference.”

I’m a tiger shark!

I absolutely love my full tiger shark suit. I followed the measurements and it fits perfectly. If you are busty, you might want to size up. The compression and “hold in” amount is perfect!

Kay Cooper (Mililani Town, HI, US)

Love the color and the fit! I am a scuba diving instructor and this really helps me to get my wetsuit on and off constantly. I am also really needing the sun protection it provides. Love this

Everything I wanted and more

I’ve been searching for a fun, full body swimsuit for years. I sunburn easily and work to minimize my risk as much as possible, without sacrificing comfort. This suit accomplishes all that plus being environmentally friendly. Perfect!

Tiger shark Sun suit

I worn this sunsuit for scuba diving. The material is not too thin nor too thick. I just wish they add some pockets like their leggings.

Jan Whittinghill-Howland (Benson, AZ, US)
Fits well

It fits well, however I’m short and they are way too long. I guess that may be to go over your feet🤷‍♀️

Hi Jan,

Thanks for the feedback and I am so sorry you are not happy with the fit so far. We make our leggings and full body sun suits with adjustable inseams so that they can accommodate many different heights! Some people do like to wear the excess length over their heels to protect their ankles or to easily slide into dive booties, but if you feel there is too much extra fabric you can cut them to your preferred inseam length. We have a video that I will link below that walks you through how to do this.

I hope this helps! And as always, if you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to email us at hello@waterlust.com and one of our team members can help you.
