The coral reef ecosystems that cover our globe provide essential food and habitat to over 25% of all marine life. The parrotfish is a common animal found among these ecosystems and are a crucial keystone species, responsible for cleaning the corals from harmful algae. The abundance of parrotfish can be related directly to the health of our coral reef ecosystems.

While parrotfish come in many amazing colors and patterns, this print is inspired by a male, terminal phase spotted parrotfish, native to the Indo-Pacific. Considered the most effective reef grazer, parrotfish serve an important function in maintaining the health of coral reefs. In fact, a 2014 IUCN report surveyed the health of Caribbean coral reefs from 1970-2012 and found that one of the most impactful actions we can take to restore the health of coral reef habitat is to protect parrotfish!

If that isn’t reason enough to love these bright and beautiful fish, an individual poops up to 200 lbs of sand a year, a critical source of sediment for beaches! For example, in Vakkaru Island in the Maldives, a 2015 study found that over 85% of their beach sand had been produced by parrotfish!
Your support helps Reef Relief improve and protect our coral reef ecosystem through education, advocacy, and grassroots community efforts. They have a wide variety of programs educating the public about coral reefs and encouraging community action, including school programs, their Coral Camp for kids, organized clean-ups, stenciling storm drains to discourage dumping, as well as policy work with their straw and sunscreen campaigns.

I’m 5’8” at 200lbs and wear a 14/16 in women’s. I bought a XXL and they fit perfectly. But the inseam length is long enough to prevent ride up and sure enough that gives you a cute short. Also, it’s long enough so you don’t feel exposed in your private area if sitting or moving about or doing water exercises. The material does not stretch out so it fades and you have protection from seeing through the material thanks to the white line on the inside. I wear them for a running walking swimming. You name it I wear it. Very happy with this purchase.
I was really excited about these thick supportive swim shorts. I mean come on they have pockets! But I was totally shocked to find that there is no gusset in these! Instant camel toe. I figured I would just wear them around the pool at home but honestly they are so uncomfortable and chafe. I’m 5’2 136 lbs and I ordered a medium. They fit pretty well though I could have also fit into a large I think. I would not purchase these again or recommend them to anyone until a gusset is added in the crotch to make them more suitable for women. I feel like I haven’t seen leggings or bottoms in general without a gusset in so long. I’m really surprised this was overlooked.
Hi Lily. Thanks for leaving your thoughts and so sorry to hear you were disappointed. These shorts actually do have a full inseam gusset, otherwise known as a running gusset. Often gussets can be triangular (which we have on our leggings and 8' shorts) or diamond-shaped. However, full inseam gussets on shorts can add even more range of movement, while reducing the amount of seams around a sensitive area. As we were developing these shorts we had great feedback on the full-seam gusset for this style. But of course if you're not thrilled with your purchase we are always happy to take it back for a full refund. Or, if it's a triangle gusset you prefer, you might try the 8' shorts, which as I mentioned, do have that style of gusset. Hope that helps and feel free to email us at hello@waterlust.com with any other questions.
These are stunning and clearly great quality but run sooo small. I’m 5’8”, 145lbs, ordered a M per their measurement chart and they were at least one size too small, maybe two sizes too small. Exchanging them and excited to have them for the summer!!
Loving them! High waist feels so good, the pattern is colorful, I feel good about repping such a eco-friendly & conscious brand. Will be looking to get more when new designs come out!
I wanted to love these shorts and I do love the design, print and quality. Unfortunately, they're just a bit too short. I'm 5' 8" and if I was 5' 4 or so they would have been perfect. I'd love to see them in a 6" length but if they do make them in 8" I would buy them.
Loved the first pair so much I bought another pair with a different design!!
