Love these!

Just purchased these and I absolutely love them. I dove regularly in the Arabian Sea and Red Sea and these are the perfect amount of coverage from jellyfish and slight warmth, but not too much I feel I overhear. Plus, every time I wear them I get ohhhs and ahhhs! Also got the matching headband. So cute! The material is soft and silk and very easy to pull on. Also ordered the spotted eagle ray pair and love those too.

Want these in all the colors!

The first time I went to Hawaii I got my buns burned snorkeling. I couldn’t sit for a week. I immediately started looking for swim leggings but I struggled to find any over size 10-12 and was worried about quality. So glad I found this company and so excited me and my buddy (both biologists ourselves) could find matching gear in our size and ALSO contribute to other biology peeps and spreading the marine conservation word.

The swim leggings are comfy, long enough for my 5’9” frame and no shortening was needed. Will def. be touting this company to anyone I know heading towards beach gear. Only tip I have is pants are true to size, but for the bralette, you may try sizing up if you are on the very busty end (F-H).

Beautiful!

I have been drooling over Waterlust leggings and tops since I found them on my FB feed last year. I finally ordered this month and was overjoyed that they are pretty great in person too! The fabric has a really cool feel to it and has a decent amount of compression and stretch. If I could change one thing, I would ask for a mid-rise waist. I am short-waisted and the waistband hits higher on me than the models, which causes it to roll some when I bend over, but it doesn't stop me from wearing them and I do appreciate that it helps hold in my muffin top. :-) I ordered medium leggings. I am 5 ft 2 in and 145lbs.

Known for their show stopping appearance, venomous spines, and voracious appetites, invasive Indo-Pacific lionfish (Pterois volitans & Pterois miles) are the first non-native marine fish to become established in the Atlantic. Lionfish pose a significant threat to local marine ecosystems due to widespread predation of native species, prolific reproduction, and lack of controlling predators.

ADVOCATE APPAREL INSPIRED BY the invasive lionfish (Pterois volitans & Pterois miles)

The issue

Lionfish in their native range, from the South Pacific to the Red Sea, are an important part of the coral reef ecosystem and population numbers are kept in check through natural processes.

However, they are non-native to the Atlantic ocean and have become established as a harmful invasive species in this region, posing a significant threat to local marine ecosystems due to widespread predation on native species, prolific reproduction, and lack of controlling predators. Humans must intervene to reduce their impact in the invaded waters, and our Invasive Lionfish collection exists to promote action and awareness on this issue.

Reported Lionfish Sightings 1985 - January 8, 2020

Beginning in the 1980's, two visually identical species of lionfish (Pterois miles and Pterois volitans) were introduced into the Atlantic via the US aquarium trade and have become the first non-native marine fish to become established in the Atlantic. Over the past decade, invasive lionfish densities in these non-native areas have exploded, as they have been documented along the entire US East Coast from Florida through Massachusetts, east to Bermuda and south throughout the Caribbean. The expansion has been extremely rapid and exponential in scope.

Reef Environmental Education Foundation REEF Logo

Reef Environmental Education Foundation (REEF)’s Invasive Species Program has been at the forefront of the lionfish invasion since the arrival of the species in Florida in 2006, and 10% of profits from your purchase goes to this program. REEF’s efforts have included laying the groundwork for developing early detection and rapid response plans to mitigate the impacts, training resource managers and dive operators in effective collecting techniques, and conducting innovative research to better understand what has made Indo-Pacific lionfish the perfect invader.

REEF was founded in 1990 out of growing concern about the health of the marine environment, and the desire to provide the public ways to contribute to the understanding and protection of marine populations. Visit www.REEF.org to learn more.
