White sandy beaches may take the spotlight, but Florida is home to 1,000 freshwater springs, the highest density in the world. A birds-eye-view of the forest often reveals a magnificent pool of freshwater emerging from the aquifer below. Jump in and you may experience the coveted feeling of flight as you soar in the air-clear water.

Florida evokes daydreams of white sandy beaches and palm trees – but perhaps the most magnificent water in Florida lies just out of sight. In the Sunshine State, water fills the limestone cavities of the Floridan aquifer beneath our feet. This is the source of drinking water for 92% of Floridians. But this water is not always hidden - where it finds its way to the surface, it forms marvelous freshwater springs, which support not only human life in Florida but also incredibly diverse and unique aquatic ecosystems. In fact, Florida is home to the highest density of freshwater springs in the world – more than 1,000 of them dot the karst landscape of the sunny peninsula.
Unfortunately, increasing development and growing pressures on water resources are having negative impacts on Florida’s springs. Over the past 15 or 20 years, Florida’s burgeoning population has had a plethora of consequences for the springs, namely decreases in flow due to over-pumping and a transition from native underwater grasses to nasty algae. Nitrate levels in the springs have skyrocketed and ecosystem dynamics have changed as food webs are altered.
Thankfully there are many passionate citizens and non-profit organizations that advocate for our springs, work to protect them, and raise awareness about their unique beauty as well as their decline. One of these groups is the Alachua Conservation Trust, a non-profit regional land trust created to address the need of protecting critical natural lands from development and degradation in North Central Florida. 10% of profits from our springs prints go their Young Leaders for Wild Florida program. YLWF supports participants to become Florida's next generation of environmental leaders through educational outdoor adventures, workshops with leaders in our community exploring environmental issues and career paths, and student-led advocacy projects.
"Thanks to the support of Waterlust and its customers, ACT's Young Leaders for Wild Florida Program continues to successfully provide youth education on freshwater springs protection and land protection to Florida's future generations of leaders. Partnering with Waterlust on these efforts is both rewarding and critical to conserving Florida's precious natural resources."

I love these tights so much, I got them in a bunch of different patterns. Incredibly sturdy, and the leg pockets are big enough to fit my phone in its sturdy outdoor case. The waistband is perfect too. They do run every so slightly small, so if you're in between sizes, it pays to go with the bigger size (for context, I'm wearing size M and am 5'6).
Love these leggings, they fit great and they are gorgeous. I know they give you a bit of extra length so you can cut to fit but don’t do it! (If you’re a shorty like me) use the extra length to cover your ankles and foot to prevent fin blisters! 😏
I've had my Fountain of Youth leggings for over a year now and they have help up very well. They are a strong fabric with a pattern that hasn't faded in many dives both in the ocean and pool training dives. The deep pockets on the side and the high waist with snug (but not squeezy) fit are great for functionality, but also flattering and helpful.
Snorkeling in Galapagos I got so many compliments on my gorgeous swim gear. These guys dry super quickly and were amenable to being rinsed off in the shower! Love them.
I haven't worn them in the water yet, but I love the way they feel! And my ass looks great!!
Which says it all really... I absolutely love these leggings, so when pair number one wore out, I ordered the same again. Thanks for the beautiful designs! I've also had the whale sharks and lion fish. I'd love a deep sea coral pattern too (the part of the ocean conservation world that I work in).
