Designed for diving, snorkeling, swimming, surfing, kiting, winging... you get the idea. If the ocean is your happy place but you recognize the importance of skin protection, these suits are for you! Versatile too - wear it alone or as a base layer to help you easily slip in and out of your wetsuit on those colder days.
Characteristic spots and stripes adorn the largest fish in the sea forming an intricate pattern, like a warrior painted for battle. Scientists use these distinctive markings to identify individual whale sharks. Like a fingerprint, each is as unique and special as the last.
Our signature fabric is sleek, soft, and luxurious, while strong, substantial, and resilient. It’s got a gummy, supportive, and smoothing stretchiness you’ll love, comfortably hugging you in all the right places.

Whale sharks (Rhincodon typus) are fish, not whales - allowing them to hold the esteemed title of "largest fish in the sea" (since sharks are fish too!). These charismatic creatures can reach lengths of 12 meters (40 feet) or more! Despite their large size, they feed on some of the smallest organisms in the sea, plankton. Hanging vertically in the water column they're able to suction feed and filter these tiny organisms through their gill rakers much like a giant vacuum cleaner pulls dust and dirt from a kitchen floor, filtering the fragments into its chamber within.
Unfortunately, approximately 100 million sharks are killed every year by humans, through direct targeted fishing efforts as well as unintended bycatch from other fisheries. The whale shark is one species of shark that is particularly vulnerable to this commercial fishing due to their high value in international trade, in addition to their highly migratory nature and normally low abundance. Research into the lives of these gentle giants can help us to manage their populations and keep these magnificent fish in the ocean where they belong.
The Marine Megafauna Foundation is helping to shed light on the population structure, migratory patterns, and the conservation requirements of these threatened sharks. Created in 2009, they aim to research, protect and conserve the large populations of marine megafauna (large marine species) found along the Mozambican coastline. Almost all whale sharks encountered by divers are juveniles and most are males. Where the school-bus-sized mature sharks swim, what they eat, and where the females give birth has long been a mystery, however their team is now very close to making these discoveries. 10% of profits from your purchase will go to the Marine Megafauna Foundation for satellite tags that are needed to track the movements of these large female whale sharks.
“Waterlust's support provides critical seed funding for us to rapidly develop and implement whale shark conservation projects in areas where this globally-endangered species is most at risk. This includes Mozambique, where our research and awareness work helped the government decide to fully protect whale sharks just a few weeks ago. We love working with a company that is so committed to making a positive change in the world.”

This is an incredibly comfortable, high-quality sun suit that exceeded my expectations. I didn't expect the material to feel so solid and so comfortable -- it's more substantive than most sun suits/skin suits or tops I've tried before -- and I was very impressed with how well it fit. I'm a big girl, and it's hard to find suits that fit me, but the sizing chart and the diverse body types of the models made it easy for me to pick a 3X, which fit perfectly. I''ll definitely be buying more from Waterlust!
I haven't worn it in the water yet, but plan on it during our upcoming vacation. It fits perfectly, and the material is thick (though not too much so) and seems very sturdy. Would highly recommend for anyone who isn't a huge fan of sunscreen and loves the whimsy of feeling like a baby whale shark! I'm 5'6.5" 135-140 lbs and am typically a med/large bottom and small/medium top. The medium is perfect.
Tried out my new sun suit as soon as it arrived snorkeling and I loved it. I am 5'6" 175 lbs and bottom heavy. I also have an extremely long torso and super short limbs. I found the large fit better than the extra large which had a bit of gathering fabric on the thighs. The large was snug but not too snug on my thighs and I prefer that for snorkeling or scuba, but if you prefer a looser fit the extra large would have been fine too. Lengthwise there was lots of room in the large for my extra long torso. My super short legs were no issue as the hems are adjustable, and actually it was nice to leave them dangling over my heel to leave no gap with my aqua shoes.
The material was a bit thicker than swim suit material or sun shirts, more like swim tights.
Great product. High quality. Fantastic design.
In preparation for extreme sun exposure in Palau, I decided to get one of these bad boys. Not only does it fit perfectly (I used the calculate my size option) but this product is made from recycled materials! It’s soft, too. I feel pretty rad wearing this, and I can feel even better knowing that it comes from a company that gives back to the environment and scientific community. Highly recommend.
I have very fair skin and love the water. Finally, I can truly enjoy snorkeling without worrying about sunscreen so much. Great style and fit, as well!
I’m pale complected and have been looking for a practical suit that lets me keep covered from the sun when I go to the beach while being breathable, lightweight, and cute. This amazing sun suit delivers on that promise and then some! Wore it to the beach on an 80 degree day in complete comfort. I’m 5’3” and 140lbs, so I bought a medium. It fits perfectly!
