Florida evokes daydreams of white sandy beaches and palm trees – but perhaps the most magnificent water in Florida lies just out of sight. In the Sunshine State, water fills the limestone cavities of the Floridan aquifer beneath our feet. This is the source of drinking water for 92% of Floridians. But this water is not always hidden - where it finds its way to the surface, it forms marvelous freshwater springs, which support not only human life in Florida but also incredibly diverse and unique aquatic ecosystems. In fact, Florida is home to the highest density of freshwater springs in the world – more than 1,000 of them dot the karst landscape of the sunny peninsula.

Unfortunately, increasing development and growing pressures on water resources are having negative impacts on Florida’s springs. Over the past 15 or 20 years, Florida’s burgeoning population has had a plethora of consequences for the springs, namely decreases in flow due to over-pumping and a transition from native underwater grasses to nasty algae. Nitrate levels in the springs have skyrocketed and ecosystem dynamics have changed as food webs are altered.

YLWF supports participants to become Florida's next generation of environmental leaders through educational outdoor adventures, workshops with leaders in our community exploring environmental issues and career paths, and student-led advocacy projects.

Love, love, love my sunsuit!

I swim laps about 5 days a week, for an hour, in an outdoor pool in Southern California. Lotsa sun. I wanted something comfortable, that would stay put, with ample sun coverage - the fact that my purchase also benefits ocean research and conservation is a major selling point for this suit! There are a lot of other long-sleeve swimsuits available around the internet, but none of them come with a commitment to our waterways. Other bonuses, I love the print! It's so much prettier in person. Fit wise: I'm 5'6", long-ish torso, 160 lbs, hourglass(ish)-shaped, bust 34DD, waist 35", hips 39" - ordered a size medium and it fits great! Only thing I would change is a little more coverage in the rear; this is kinda cheeky on me, but not a deal breaker. Honestly, seeing so many different models in this - and other sunsuits - was so helpful to me in choosing a size, color, and feeling more confident in my own body! I love the thumbholes for keeping my sleeves in place, especially with lap swimming, flip turns, and all else. I do not find that I need to wear a bikini top under this for bust support - I might wear one if I wanted to take off the top like I would with a wetsuit, but when I'm just swimming, this is supportive without anything else. Over all, very happy with my suit! Other bonus: I had to return another suit in a different size and that process was so easy. Love it!

Great looking…Too small!

It’s beautiful, great quality and fits wonderfully, BUUUT…

I bought this for Islamorada's Swim to the Alligator Lighthouse, since it’s known for large amounts of jellyfish, when I tested it in open water, locally, it felt like I was wearing a parachute, since the material is thick and provided too much drag. I’m sad I won’t be able to use it for what I intended, but happy about their return policy. I think this line would be more suited for diving and snorkeling, definitely not competitive swimming.

Obsessed, this is my new go-to suit

I live in FL and do alot of lap swimming in an outdoor pool, I wanted something that would help protect my skin from the sun and also be comfortable. This suit is a game changer. Thank you so much!

Almost perfect

It would be amazing if they could make a suit for long torsos. It fits perfectly and is very very well made but I have a really long torso and have to constantly adjust. It was a sad disappointment because the sun suit is beautiful and I want to wear it all the time but can’t if I’m doing something truly active.

Love, my SunSuit

Hi … i’ve worn my sun suit a couple of times now and it feels great in the water. I ordered a small based on your size chart and the models, I’m 5‘7“ and 135 pounds. It fits snuggly and is a little difficult to zip up around my shoulder blades. It’s also tight around the neck so I’ve left the zipper down about 4 inches. I thought about exchanging it for a medium, but I am wondering if that would be too big. What do you think? Marie Riley

Hi Marie! Happy to help! If you're finding the suit a bit snug then sizing up could definitely help with a bit more a comfortable fit! The fabric has a lot of stretch and good compression, so we often find folks are able to wear multiple sizes and still have the fabric conform well to their shape.
