Designed for diving, snorkeling, swimming, surfing, kiting, winging... you get the idea. If the ocean is your happy place but you recognize the importance of skin protection, these suits are for you! Versatile too - wear it alone or as a base layer to help you easily slip in and out of your wetsuit on those colder days.
Made from post-consumer bottles AND old textiles through our Take-Back Program. We collect your old clothes, put them in a wood chipper (joking…kinda), and convert them into fiber, then fabric, then back into brand new clothing. Because textile waste comes in different colors, the resulting recycled fiber ends up looking brown, like a child finger-painting with ALL the colors at once kind of brown. Yuk! To fix this mess, the fibers are dyed black during the recycling process.
Our signature fabric is sleek, soft, and luxurious, while strong, substantial, and resilient. It’s got a gummy, supportive, and smoothing stretchiness you’ll love, comfortably hugging you in all the right places.
Main fabric: 88% Repreve® RPET (recycled polyester made from post-consumer plastic bottles), 12% spandex
Zipper: polyacetal resin (tough, high-strength thermoplastic)

We stand behind every product we make. If you have a problem, we will solve it with the relentless determination of a salmon swimming upstream to spawn.
According to the EPA, 87% of apparel textiles are not recycled annually in the United States, meaning millions of tons of old clothes are piled into landfills every year. While recycling infrastructure exists for things like plastic bottles and aluminum cans, textile recycling is far less developed and accessible. This is a missed opportunity because the raw materials within some kinds of clothing (like ours!) can be used to create entirely new fabric, as long as it’s done carefully. By purchasing products made from recycled textiles, you are financially supporting the infrastructure that enables recycling to happen and signaling to manufacturers that you value circularity.
Waste is shredded, combined with recycled plastic bottle flake, and enters a unique material conversion process to create resin.
Resin is formed. Along the way, black dye is added (using an efficient process that uses no water) to standardize the color of the result.
Resin is melted and made into yarn, to be spun into fabric, then cut and sewn back into clothing.
In the world of environmentally responsible fabrics, we think there are two clear leaders from an end-of-life perspective: those that are entirely made from natural fibers, and those made entirely of synthetic fibers. 100% natural fabrics like organic cotton are beneficial because they are biodegradable and recyclable, while 100% synthetic fabrics are beneficial because they are recyclable. Fabrics that blend natural and synthetic fibers together are not currently biodegradable or recyclable with today’s technology, which is why we don’t make them.
The fabric used in this product is created from UNIFI’s Textile Takeback process, a program that converts discarded fabric into new, traceable raw materials. By partnering with other textile businesses and collecting your used Waterlust garments through our Take-Back Program, we’re able to divert fabric from the landfill and take another step towards manufacturing circularity. Programs like these only work if people like you participate, so when your Waterlust gear gets old, send it back to us for recycling.
I’m very fair-skinned, sunburn VERY easily, and have skin cancer in my family, but I love spending time outside on the water. I’m a stickler about reapplying sunscreen but somehow usually get burned anyway. I bought this suit before a trip to the Bahamas to avoid getting sunburned when I was out on the water kayaking and snorkeling and it worked like a CHARM. I was able to relax and fully enjoy my time there without carrying that worry about needing to reapply sunscreen and worrying about a sunburn. Bonus perks: No chafing from your thighs rubbing together in a regular bathing suit, and I looked SNATCHED in this!
Fits perfectly. Material is thick so hoping will be sufficient for Caribbean diving. Haven’t tried in water yet but can’t wait. Also have the whale shark leggings from prior purchase which I love so repeat customer.
Still not delivered!
Hi Rosey,
Oh no! I am so sorry to hear this. Looks like tracking marked it as delivered on June 28th. If you still have not received this, shoot us an email at hello@waterlust.com and we can set up a replacement to be sent to you.
So sorry about this!
Camilla
Thicker than a standard swimsuit without the cloying heaviness that some "made of recycled plastic bottles" fabric is prone to; I love the texture of this sunsuit! The hidden bar tacks make hemming the legs a cinch—all you need is a ruler and a decent pair of scissors and you're good to go!
I haven’t used it yet, but the material is perfect and I was able to fit my curvy size 16 body into it comfortably with room to spare. I got a 2x but I do think an XL would have fit. Excited to use it for paddle boarding!
I’m loving my new suit and very pleasantly pleased with the garment quality; fit and comfort. It’s an investment piece which helps sustainability, is comfortable to get on, wear diving or snorkelling in warm waters or under wetsuit when it’s colder. As a bigger woman I was concerned about how this would fit and look but it’s really nice to wear. Now looking forward to going to see the giant cuttlefish mate in winter in July here in our cold southern ocean as well in the tropical waters of Great Barrier Reef when I head north soon.
