Our well-known sun shirts, minus the hood. Sun shirt… rashguard… whatever you want to call them, these are super lightweight and quick-dry to help you stay cool and protected from the sun no matter the activity. Dive, surf, swim, adventure, repeat.
The coral reef ecosystems that cover our globe provide essential food and habitat to over 25% of all marine life. The parrotfish is a common animal found among these ecosystems and are a crucial keystone species, responsible for cleaning the corals from harmful algae. The abundance of parrotfish can be related directly to the health of our coral reef ecosystems. 5% of sales will be donated to Reef Relief, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving and protecting our coral reef ecosystem.
Our silk-weight fabric is feather-light, silky smooth, and cool to the touch, engineered for all-day sun protection without the heat. So breathable you'll forget you're wearing it, so protective you'll never want to take it off.
91% Repreve® RPET (recycled polyester made from post-consumer plastic bottles), 9% spandex
Safe, premium performance yarns: Our high-quality, fully traceable yarns are sourced through sustainable partners in the U.S. These materials meet rigorous chemical safety standards and are independently verified for over 1,000 harmful substances like BPA and PFAS through OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certification.
High-quality, responsible printing: Our products are printed using heat transfer sublimation, a printing technique that is widely considered to be the safest for both workers and the environment. It requires no water, eliminates dye from entering water systems, and minimizes ink and fabric waste. All the inks and dyes we use are also OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified.
Recycled materials, minimal waste: Our commitment to environmental responsibility starts with sustainable fibers and yarns. We use synthetic yarns made from recycled plastic bottles, which helps remove and repurpose existing plastic.

While parrotfish come in many amazing colors and patterns, this print is inspired by a male, terminal phase spotted parrotfish, native to the Indo-Pacific. Considered the most effective reef grazer, parrotfish serve an important function in maintaining the health of coral reefs. In fact, a 2014 IUCN report surveyed the health of Caribbean coral reefs from 1970-2012 and found that one of the most impactful actions we can take to restore the health of coral reef habitat is to protect parrotfish!

If that isn’t reason enough to love these bright and beautiful fish, an individual poops up to 200 lbs of sand a year, a critical source of sediment for beaches! For example, in Vakkaru Island in the Maldives, a 2015 study found that over 85% of their beach sand had been produced by parrotfish!
"Reef Relief is so grateful to expand our message of coral reef conservation through our partnership with Waterlust. Your support helps Reef Relief improve and protect our coral reef ecosystem through education, advocacy, and grassroots community efforts. They have a wide variety of programs educating the public about coral reefs and encouraging community action, including school programs, their Coral Camp for kids, organized clean-ups, stenciling storm drains to discourage dumping, as well as policy work with their straw and sunscreen campaigns.
I love how comfortable and beautiful this rash guard is, perfect for every water and sport activity!
Long enough sleeves!! This is hard for me to find and these are great. Very comfortable and easy to wear all day.
This shirt arrived smelling like sweat. I may have received a return from another customer or the place in El Salvador where it was made smells sweaty. The fabric is thinner and stretches easier than the leggings, I was hoping it was made with the same material as the legs for a bit of compression so I wouldn't have to wear a bra with it but no luck there. The quality of the stitching looks good and the fabric is very bright. Warning: These products run larger than I would expect: I'm 40 inches around my chest, 34 waist and a bit over six feet tall and the medium size fits me.
Hi Louie,
Oh my goodness, I am so sorry to hear the sun shirt arrived with a foul odor!! It must have been a return that slipped through quality control. Regardless of the why, that is unacceptable. If the odor does not come out in the wash, I would be happy to set up an exchange for a replacement, perhaps a size down if you found the size you received to be too big.
The crew neck is the same material as our hooded sunshirt, which we made as a lighter material with all the UPF protection. However, our cropped rashguards are made out of the same material as the leggings, so that could be another alternative! Shoot us an email at hello@waterlust.com, and we can set either of these options up for you.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention! - Camilla
