Recycled Curiosity

In the summer, I pull my hair back. I used to use elastic bands. Then I discovered the Recycled Scrunchie. I was curious about the product, so I bought several different prints. This first purchase is for me. (mine-mine-mine). However, I have since placed a second order as gifts. Such a simple idea to use pre-consumer waste.
I encourage anyone that pulls their hair back to consider purchasing!

Great Idea!

I bought a few, just to check them out at first. I purchased for MY use, but now that I've seen them, I plan to buy more as gifts. Also, I donate to our town food pantry, and I will be adding a scrunchie to my donation items.

Recycled Scrunchie Made From Pre-Consumer Waste

Environmental Impact
9 items left

Every time we make clothing from a roll of fabric, there are some “scraps” that get left behind. This lonely material, known as “pre-consumer” waste, contributes significantly to the environmental footprint of clothing. Enter scrunchies! Made from the leftover recycled material used for our leggings, our scrunchies are quick-drying and moisture-wicking, while also enabling us to reduce our pre-consumer waste.

Materials: 88% Repreve® RPET (recycled polyester made from post-consumer plastic bottles), 12% spandex.

Made from fabric remnants

Industry-wide it’s estimated that 15-20% of fabric used to make clothing is discarded as pre-consumer waste, and although we use some nifty approaches to maximize the efficiency of our garment’s patterns, we still have some leftover. These headbands are our way of reducing the amount of pre-consumer waste we create when we cut our garments out of our recycled fabric. The process goes like this:
