Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) Certified, the worldwide leading standard for organic textiles like cotton. GOTS certification ensures our cotton is pure and ethically sourced and is made without chemical pesticides, forced labor, child labor, or unfair wages.

Algae Ink?

Spirulina (a type of algae) is grown in California using sunlight, water and carbon dioxide from the air. Algae grow faster than terrestrial plants and are renewable. When algae grows it absorbs carbon dioxide and produces oxygen. Algae do not use traditional farmland, thus production does not displace food production.

The spirulina are grown to produce a blue colorant called phycocyanin, which is extracted and used as a natural food colorant. The remaining material is considered algae by-product, and is then used to make the bio-based black algae pigment on our tees!

The pigment is purified and milled to form a dispersion with similar characteristics to other traditional petroleum based pigments.

The pigment is used to create the first commercially available water based ink with bio-based pigments. Using this ink, the tees are screen printed (also in California, where the algae are grown and the tees are manufactured), then shipped to us here in Miami.

Great design!

I love the design and the material is very soft and comfortable. The quality is excellent. I wish it was a little more fitted (I purchased an x-small and it's still a little big on me), but otherwise its great. I'd highly recommend. I also have the cephalopod one and I get compliments on it all the time.

Printing is well done. Shirt fits to size as expected. Wore it to my class on corals.

Super Soft but runs quite large

This shirt is ridiculously soft! I understand it is in unisex sizing, but even so, it is HUGE! I got a medium and I'm 5'9" 135lbs, but the shirt comes well down past my butt. It's still cute with the sleeves rolled up with bike shorts or leggings; I just want others to know how large it runs. It didn't shrink at all even when I washed in in hot water and dried it on high heat. One last note, the photos show it says "CORAL" at the top of the shirt, but mine says "CORAL REEF." Doesn't bother me too much, just different from advertised.

Such a fun top!

I love this top! It's so fun to wear education on your shirt! I know that sounds nerdy, but as a nature and animal lover, I find it really fun to be able to educate my self and others in a subtle way. Also, it fits great and is very comfy!
