Designed for diving, snorkeling, swimming, surfing, kiting, winging... you get the idea. If the ocean is your happy place but you recognize the importance of skin protection, these suits are for you! Versatile too - wear it alone or as a base layer to help you easily slip in and out of your wetsuit on those colder days.
Known for the psychedelic patterns found on their inner shells, abalone (sea snails) feature unique colors that are created by nacre, hexagonal platelets of aragonite also known commonly as “mother of pearl” and found on a variety of mollusks. Our print features the piercing blues of New Zealand’s Pāua, the Māori name given to three species Haliotis iris, Haliotis australis and Haliotis virginea.
Our signature fabric is sleek, soft, and luxurious, while strong, substantial, and resilient. It’s got a gummy, supportive, and smoothing stretchiness you’ll love, comfortably hugging you in all the right places.
Main fabric: 88% Repreve® RPET (recycled polyester made from post-consumer plastic bottles), 12% spandex
Zipper: polyacetal resin (tough, high strength thermoplastic)

Abalone is the common name for a variety of marine snails that are found throughout the world’s oceans. Sought after for their meat and their beautiful shells, populations have declined rapidly and some species are now critically endangered.
Growing juvenile abalone. Once they reach adulthood, they’ll be released into the wild along southern California’s coast.
High school student divers trained by Nancy to participate in the abalone restoration efforts.
The next generation of scientists measuring abalone in their classroom nursery.
Our relationship with abalone illustrates the challenges of overexploitation of the marine environment. Until the 1980s, it was widely thought that abalone populations were resilient and could effectively rebound from harvesting activities. Unfortunately, that has not proven to be true.
Abalone are “broadcast spawners,” meaning that two individuals must be within three feet of one another to sexually reproduce. This type of reproduction makes population recovery very challenging, driving the need for humans to intervene.
Get Inspired is a non-profit organization that specializes in marine conservation & education, founded by Marine Biologist Nancy Caruso. Besides physically growing juvenile abalone along California’s coast and populating them back into the coastal kelp forest marine habitat, Nancy recognizes that protecting the ocean in the future requires educating children today. That is why she has launched a 10-year initiative to grow 100,000 abalone in classrooms across the golden state and restore them along the southern California coast, inspiring and utilizing the help of the next generation of scientists along the way. 10% of profits from your purchase will be donated to this restoration effort.
“Our partnership with Waterlust helps us spread our message of conservation across the globe far beyond our reach. It is a great example of how one small organization with one employee can only do so much but by working together we can do more, reach more, spreading knowledge, happiness, beauty, and hopefully compassion for our ocean animals.”

I love being in the water with my sunshine on. I live in the land of 10,000 lakes so no salt water, but sun and biting bugs. This suit protects me from both. Of course easier to get into dry than out wet, and am not sure if a back zipper would be easier than trying to pull the shoulders off.
Fits great, super excited to try it out this summer!!
Aloha Fiona, Camilla, Laura, Patrick and all Waterlust Employees!
The only thing wishing to be added to this stylish, functional, and COMFORTABLE(!!) suit is a different and slightly more flattering neckline.
The suit's online fitting chart was very accurate and helpful for my online and first time purchase (I usually am able to send my exact measurements to my previous bodysuit providers, so having a standard size that fits me already is so wonderful, especially now that I know your size chart is accurate!).
My only input about the neckline is as follows:
Can you make different neckline shapes optional before purchase? If so, a true "V" shaped neckline would increase the overall aesthetic for my body dimensions, and others with my build. Currently the zipper/collar creates more of a circular shape.
I look forward to using your full coverage sun suits as my daily clothing options as with my Caucasian DNA and living in Hawai'i I have struggled to find SPF clothing that is not only responsibly sourced with eco-conscious clothing, but is durable (like yours!) and affordable (I usually have paid $220-$300 per suit from Europe and Florida). Shipping with recycled ♻️ material only adds to your commitment to excellence and increases my longterm loyalty to your company. Mahalo nui loa for your love of the ocean!!
I am not sure if 3D Knitting technology (in know of one in NYC) would be helpful, but it does provide less waste and more saving from a manufacturing side, and more customizable options for customers. It also "prints" (knits) articles of clothing with NO SEAMS which helps durability. See company www.oliver-charles.com using seacell/yak hair materials for their sweaters made by 3D Knit Machines.

I absolutely adore my swimsuit. It keeps me from getting sunburnt looks amazing, and feels great on in and out of the water.
The suit fits perfectly and is comfortable. I love the thumb holes on the sleeves, they are comfortable and much better than the skinny tabs that other suits have. The colors and design is also flattering.
