Advocate Apparel Inspired by Abalone

Abalone is the common name for a variety of marine snails that are found throughout the world’s oceans. Sought after for their meat and their beautiful shells, populations have declined rapidly and some species are now critically endangered.

Our relationship with abalone illustrates the challenges of overexploitation of the marine environment. Until the 1980s, it was widely thought that abalone populations were resilient and could effectively rebound from harvesting activities. Unfortunately, that has not proven to be true.

Abalone are “broadcast spawners,” meaning that two individuals must be within three feet of one another to sexually reproduce. This type of reproduction makes population recovery very challenging, driving the need for humans to intervene.

Snug and Secure

Just what I’ve been looking for. Great material, I went for something on the smaller side because I wanted more compression and it delivered perfectly.

Great quality and support

These tops are great as they are nice thick material. I went by the size chart and the helpful photos of different sized models wearing them and got the perfect fit. It is refreshing to see different shapes and sizes modelling as I am overseas and so wanted to avoid having to try lots of sizes and send some back with expensive shipping charges. Thanks Waterlust!

Perfect for spending time in the ocean!

I ordered this top to wear while diving & I can already say from my 2 dives this weekend that it works great! The pattern is so cool too, I got lots of compliments when I finally took off my wet suit after the dive. This top was super comfy to wear for long periods of time and it was perfectly functional during all of the activity. Highly recommend!

Beautiful and comfortable!

I got this as a sports bra that I could potentially use as a bikini top as well. I haven’t ran or swam in it yet but I have walked in it and it is very comfortable and supportive for light exercise at least! I have a larger chest and got the small option which I am glad I did. It offers a really nice lift and support without being too tight. The only downside is that I find the bottom rolls up sometimes. I wish it didn’t do that- and I’m hoping it won’t in the water- but it’s still pretty awesome! I love that it’s reversible ( although the black side is a smidge see through when you’re chilly if ya know what I mean) over all I really like it!! It looks amazing paired with their leggings! Thanks!
