White sandy beaches may take the spotlight, but Florida is home to 1,000 freshwater springs, the highest density in the world. A birds-eye-view of the forest often reveals a magnificent pool of freshwater emerging from the aquifer below. Jump in and you may experience the coveted feeling of flight as you soar in the air-clear water.

Florida evokes daydreams of white sandy beaches and palm trees – but perhaps the most magnificent water in Florida lies just out of sight. In the Sunshine State, water fills the limestone cavities of the Floridan aquifer beneath our feet. This is the source of drinking water for 92% of Floridians. But this water is not always hidden - where it finds its way to the surface, it forms marvelous freshwater springs, which support not only human life in Florida but also incredibly diverse and unique aquatic ecosystems. In fact, Florida is home to the highest density of freshwater springs in the world – more than 1,000 of them dot the karst landscape of the sunny peninsula.
Unfortunately, increasing development and growing pressures on water resources are having negative impacts on Florida’s springs. Over the past 15 or 20 years, Florida’s burgeoning population has had a plethora of consequences for the springs, namely decreases in flow due to over-pumping and a transition from native underwater grasses to nasty algae. Nitrate levels in the springs have skyrocketed and ecosystem dynamics have changed as food webs are altered.
Thankfully there are many passionate citizens and non-profit organizations that advocate for our springs, work to protect them, and raise awareness about their unique beauty as well as their decline. One of these groups is the Alachua Conservation Trust, a non-profit regional land trust created to address the need of protecting critical natural lands from development and degradation in North Central Florida. 10% of profits from our springs prints go their Young Leaders for Wild Florida program. YLWF supports participants to become Florida's next generation of environmental leaders through educational outdoor adventures, workshops with leaders in our community exploring environmental issues and career paths, and student-led advocacy projects.
"Thanks to the support of Waterlust and its customers, ACT's Young Leaders for Wild Florida Program continues to successfully provide youth education on freshwater springs protection and land protection to Florida's future generations of leaders. Partnering with Waterlust on these efforts is both rewarding and critical to conserving Florida's precious natural resources."

I have not tried them in the water but I love the colors and the feeling the material
These work great! They look awesome and are surprisingly breathable considering how study and form fitting they are
My one wish is that they were a little higher waisted. I'm 5'6", a dress size 20-22, and I bought the 3x size. The waistband tends to sit in the soft part of my belly, which is less comfortable and less flattering than if it went all the way above it.
Regardless, these fit well, look great, and stay in place with vigorous swimming. Definitely recommend!
The fit is perfect, and they are sooooooo comfortable! Beautiful, comfy and for a good cause!!!!
Love the material, thickness and feel. Love I can get long enough leggings. Looked great for diving this weekend. Only one area of feedback which may only apply to tall girls….the length from crotch to waist is just a little too short for me resulting in a little bit of camel toe. I’m 6ft 1’. An additional half inch would make all the difference.
I love all of my Waterlust leggings and tops. I use them for diving, weekends, and sports bras. I love that these have a ocket that fits your phone. I love the support of causes and the weekle informative email about science updates. Waterlust is a great company!
Beautiful colors, very conformable and a great material. I wish there was a elastic in the waist. They don't stay on my waist very well.
