I’ve previously ordered a men’s x-small of the whale shark pattern since at the time there weren’t any women’s rash guards available in that pattern. I actually really love how it fits and wanted the tiger shark pattern too. This time there were no men’s available, but you did have a women’s large, which I hoped would fit similarly to the men’s x-small.
Nope, the torso fit itself is not bad, but it is WAY too long and the armpit area and sleeves are way too baggy. I’m good with a sewing machine, so I am considering just hamming it and trying to take in the armpits/sleeves a bit, but I would really rather have another men’s x-small in the tiger shark pattern since it fits perfectly. Will you get any of those in stock soon?
I stupidly already threw out the packaging for this women’s large, so I’m not sure if I could even return this one anyway now. :-/
Hi Angela - thanks so much for taking the time to provide your feedback! We're sorry to hear the rash guard didn't work out for you and can absolutely still accept it as a return, no worries there. Returns are free and easy (https://waterlust.com/pages/shipping-returns-and-exchanges). In terms of your other feedback, we're actually in the process of redeveloping both the men's and women's rash guards (which is why we're almost completely out of stock in both). They'll be coming back better than ever with an updated fabric, fit, look etc in a few months, and I think this will help address some of your concerns. We hope you'll give the new version a shot when they're ready! In the meantime, feel free to reach out (hello@waterlust.com) if you need any help with your return.
This top is so comfortable and versatile. If you need a rash guard or just want an awesome tiger shark long sleeve, go for it!!!
I love wearing this on a daily basis, not just as a rash guard because of how comfortable it is! Works great underneath my scrubs for work, the pattern matches with most other clothes. I also love supporting UMiami & conservancy efforts!
I got this for my 12 year old daughter who has a rare condition that requires maximum protection from UVA/UVB light. She absolutely loves it, the high quality fabric is very comfortably. She loves the cool pattern. We both love that they’re made from recycled materials and that proceeds go to conservation. Thanks to this outfit she can now spend time in the sun and water safely. We will definitely be purchasing more. The shipping was crazy fast. Overall I can’t say enough good things about this product and company. Thank you for providing a product that is cool & functional.

Intimidating stripes cover one of the ocean’s largest apex predators. Sitting atop the marine food pyramid, tiger sharks play a significant role in balancing the tropical and temperate water ecosystem, which is why we celebrate their beauty and support research that informs management of their population.

Tiger sharks (Galeocerdo cuvier) are classified by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) as “Near Threatened”, and thus, research, education and outreach is essential to ensuring healthy populations. As one of the ocean’s largest predators, these critical species sit at the top of the food chain, helping to regulate the delicate balance of populations of those beneath in the ecosystem. Decreased populations can result in trophic cascades, impacting the abundance and behavior of other species lower on the food chain. Multiple research methods have shown that some species of sharks have declined in population by 90% or more during the last several decades in areas where they were formerly abundant. These declines are due to direct targeting in commercial fisheries, mostly for their fins and sometimes meat. Additionally, sharks are often caught unintentionally as bycatch in many other fisheries, caught and killed in some recreational fisheries (unlike catch and release), and may also be impacted by humans more indirectly through threats like habitat loss, pollution, and human-driven declines in the fish species sharks rely on for food.

Sharks have been in the ocean for more than 450 million years. Granted, they’ve evolved a bit since then, but they’ve survived five major extinction events! Help us to celebrate these amazing animals, support research to inform management of their populations, and use your gear as a conversation piece to educate others.
Learn more about some of the research conducted by the Shark Research and Conservation Program. This Waterlust video explains the findings of a paper published in the scientific journal of Diversity and Distributions entitled "Use of marine protected areas and exclusive economic zones in the subtropical western North Atlantic Ocean by large highly mobile sharks."
The study investigated the core home habitat use of bull, great hammerhead and tiger sharks tagged in waters off south Florida and the northern Bahamas to understand if these highly mobile shark species might benefit from spatial protection, such as marine protected areas (MPAs).
